The Ronde Lutherse Kerk (Round Lutheran Church) was built in the 17th century for the large Lutheran community in Amsterdam. In 1822, a fire destroyed much of the church. It was rebuilt in the same style as the original, but higher. The church suffered major damage from another fire in 1993, but was fully restored afterwards.
The church was closed in 1935. After 1935 it was used as a concert hall for a while, and since 1975 it is in use as a conference centre - originally by the Sonesta hotel (the church is still known as the Sonesta Koepel, Sonesta Dome, in Amsterdam), nowadays by Marriott.
The postcard is one of the most recent in this series: It was sent in 1966.
