Gathering dust: Birthdays
On Saturdays I rummage through my old cabinet, pull out and dust off an item, and present it here on Roots. Today: Scrap paper of (probably) Cornelis Johannes Koopman (1869-1951).
This scrap paper I found between some papers that probably belonged to my great-great-uncle Cornelis Johannes (Cees) Koopman (1869-1951). My great-aunt passed on these papers to my mother, who in turn passed them on to me.
The paper lists four birthdays of uncles and aunts of Uncle Cees - maybe he wrote them down when he visited one of them, so that he could send them birthday cards.
Oom Willem 30 Augs Oom Adriaan 30 Juni Tante Hendrika 8 Juli " Anke 15 Juli
Oom and Tante are Dutch for uncle and aunt. Oom Adriaan is Adrianus Arnoldus Koopman, son of Cornelis Teunisz Koopman and Petronella Catharina Wilhelmina Oosthout. He was born on 29 June 1837 in Texel, so his birthday was indeed 30 June. He died 13 October 1919 in Nieuwendam. His wife, Anke Zeijlemaker, was born on 19 August 1838, so she can't be the Tante Anke whose birthday is listed.
Tante Hendrika is Hendrika Koopman, born 8 July 1835 in Texel, spouse of Cornelis Rozema, and a sister of Adrianus Arnoldus.
Oom Willem and Tante Anke are probably a brother and sister of Adrianus Arnoldus and Hendrika Koopman. I never fully researched this family - maybe it's time to do so and find out who Oom Willem and Tante Anke are.
