Gathering dust: The engagement of Henk van Kampen and Lida Melessen

On Saturdays I rummage through my old cabinet, pull out and dust off an item, and present it here on Roots. Today: An engagement announcement.

This is the engagement announcement of my grandparents, Hendrik (Henk) van Kampen and Alida (Lida) Melessen. It mentions a change (wijziging), so possibly there was an earlier communication. Unfortunately the card does not mention the engagement date, only the dates of two receptions, one at each parental home: 4 February 1938 in Amsterdam, and the next day in Hilversum.

The address on the cover is my great-grandparents' address: The H. (Hendrik) van Kampen family in Hilversum.

Henk and Lida married two and a half years later, on 1 August 1940.
