Scouting Driebergen
In an online newspaper repository I found two newspaper articles mentioning my great-grandfather Theodorus Johannes Adrianus Pardoen.
The first article explains that, during a meeting on 11 June 1924, steps were taken to found a local division of Scouting The Netherlands in the village Driebergen-Rijssenburg, under leadership of Mr. Pardoen. The second article, later that year, tells that Mr. Pardoen resigned as Scout Leader, as he moved to a different part of the country.
I was not aware that my Pardoen ancestors were ever involved with scouting - and neither was my mother. So a new item on my todo-list: Find out if scouting played an important role in the Pardoen family - or was it just a passing fad?
